Accommodation

All venues are located in idyllique settings and offer breakfast, laundry, pool & recreation areas, TV and a business hub.

Special arrangements have been made for Team kit laundry.

They also offer shuttle services into town. However, dedicated 2026 FISU World Championship Rugby Sevens shuttled will run throughout the day from accommodations to Coetzenburg and back.

Player and chaperones will stay at the Protea Hotel in Stellenbosch, or in the Lord Charles Hotel in the neighbouring suburb of Somerset West.
Guests and Officials will stay at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport or Protea Hotel Dorphuis within walking distance of the competition grounds.

This hotel is set on expansive grounds, 10 minutes from Coetzenburg. This will be home to all players and coaches. Amenities include a gym and pool for exercise.

It is 30 to 40 minutes travelling distance to the airport subject to traffic, and just 10 minutes to the competition grounds. Shuttle services to and from the playing grounds will be available throughout each day.

This venue has hosted several international teams: Sevens Challenger Series, u20 WC and the T20 Women’s World Cup.

Situated at the foothills of the Helderberg mountains on 22 acres of idyllic landscaping, the iconic Lord Charles Hotel is in the neighbouring suburb, Somerset West – a 30-minute drive through winelands to the competition grounds.

Stellenbosch Academy of Sports

Technical officials and guests

There is a 3-star, 62-room sports accommodation facility at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport, which is co-managed by the internationally-recognised Tsogo Sun Hotel Group.

The facility is access controlled. Each room offers two extra-long single beds, an en-suite bathroom, equipped kitchenette, wireless internet access, twin workstations and TV with all South African channels, including DSTV (satellite).

All rooms are serviced daily, and on the ground floor there is a private garden with a recovery swimming pool as well as athlete relaxation areas. Meeting rooms are available for management and team meetings, and are equipped with AV facilities for video analysis.
SAS is a 2-minute walk to the Championship grounds; and it is 40 minutes from Cape Town International Airport.

Reservations

Reservations should be made in advance to ensure availability.
Non-reducible duration of reservations: from the 1 September to 7 September, 2026. Mandatory payment of 6 daily participation fees per participant.

  • Arrival from 1 to 7 September = standard package.
  • Arrival before or after = special rules:
    Applicable for the full overnight stay or early check-in or late check-out
    Additional booking must be made no later than 30 days before the event.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made before 25 July, 2026.
Late cancellations or no-shows of a complete Team may result in the loss of the 5 000€ deposit, according to FISU rules.

In case of partial cancellation from 1 to 2 participants:

  • 50% of the fees are refunded until D-1 month.
  • No refund after D-1 month.
  • No refund over 2 no-shows

The rules will apply for every no-show regardless of the reason (injury, VISA denied, flight cancellation/delay, etc).

Check-ins

Check-in is at 2pm (14h00) on the day of arrival and check-out is at 11am (11h00) on the day of departure.

Early check-in or late check-out requests are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.
