Cultural Programme

The 2026 FISU World University Championship Rugby Sevens takes place in the historic town of Stellenbosch, a cultural centre in its own right with museums, galleries and entertainment – and plenty of history with strong links to Europe. Tours and access to other cultural activities are available and will be highlighted through Stellenbosch 360 (Stellenbosch Tourism) in the advance programme to all participants.

The City of Cape Town is an hour from Stellenbosch with world-renowned places of interest, cultural events and natural splendours – such as Table Mountain (the fifth-ranked natural wonder of the world) and Cape Point (where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet). Close to the Stellenbosch, guests will have the option of visiting a Lion Park and other sanctuaries.

During the Tournament, local community artists will entertain, and school visits are planned for education and interactive sessions.

And, of course, guests will be surrounded by some of the leading wine farms in the world – even a Lion and Cheetah park!

All services have been considered to support participants’ needs. These include:

ICE

Ice will be available at the competition grounds for physiotherapy needs and for ice baths.

INSTANT COMMUNICATIONS

Aside from an abundance of clear signage, Participants will be able to know exactly what is happening at all times, where to go, how to get there, and what to expect through the use of our digital Padlet communications platform accessible on all devices, as well as through a WhatsApp group for the duration of the tournament week.
